Everywhere you turn, anywhere you go, no matter who you are, as long as you are from Africa, majority of people believe you need help or can be helped. This is most certain if you are not a public figure.

Yes, this is an open secret. As a regular traveller on international flights, I am always amazed when “offering-trays” or envelopes are passed around by flight attendants asking passengers to donate coins for African kids. Go around dozens of airports around the world, wherever coin-boxes are placed, 80% of them are asking for donations in the name of Africa or African kids, women, disables, born, embryo, fetus and so on. They even ask for donations for farmers they have never seen nor will never see.

Is the continent as poor as this? Where is dignity in all of these?

The image above caught my attention today. It is meant to be a dummy image from a graphic designer. The test on it confirms my concern for Africa. To be objective, I am almost 99.8% certain the designer has never step his foot on the African continent. Where did he get this idea, or has begging on behalf of Africa become a marketing strategy?

It is time Africans tell their stories themselves. Perhaps many of the issues facing Africa can be solved without a dime donated; this would be an opportunity for genuine entrepreneurs to discover real investment opportunities with promising high return on investment; perhaps.

Join Africans in Zurich on the 26th -27th October to listing to what they have to say. It is an investment gathering nothing more. Secure a space now before it is booked out.

It is time to earn back your pride and now is the time to go to Africa with your business and investment ideas.

The future of the African continent is oftentimes discussed and controlled principally by those who do not live there, are not familiar with African cultures, and are likely not personally invested in developing the 54 African countries. NGO’s and large international bodies continue to struggle to identify Sub-Saharan African
